  • The porn industry has been making parodies for about as long as it's existed. Some of them are more clever than others (Sgt. Pecker's Lonely Hearts Gang Bang, anyone?), but in general, the idea is to take a successful piece of serious film (or TV show, or band, or whatever), and turn it into something completely different.

But then again, when the thing that you're choosing to parody is already bizarre, you may not need to change that much. Behold, porn studio New Sensations, and their brilliant take on TV show 30 Rock (it's totally safe for work, but I advise you skip to about two minutes in for the genuinely hilarious parts).

  • National Go Topless Day

    Dear Mancouch Readers,

I would like to take this time to apologize to each and every one of you, on behalf of the entire Mancouch staff. We usually don't like to admit when we've made mistakes (after all, we're predominantly men), but this time, our blunder was inexcusable.

You see, yesterday, August 23rd, was National Go Topless Day. The group that organized this (GoTopless.org, pretty obviously NSFW) has the firm belief that women should be allowed to go bare-chested in the same places that men can.

I'll give you a second to process that.

  • To See or Not to See: Inglourious Basterds.

I'm slowly but surely getting more and more excited for Inglourious Basterds's release on Friday, but I still have some reservations. In an effort to help you guys out, here are some reasons to go out and see it, and some reasons why you might skip it.

    SEE IT:

    1) Quentin Tarantino.

The man is kind of a lunatic, but he's made several amazing movies. Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction speak for themselves, Jackie Brown and the Kill Bill saga are incredible, and even though I might be alone on this, I really liked Death Proof. So with this, it's hopefully another movie with super clever dialogue and a good amount of bloody fun.

    2) Brad Pitt.

Dude makes a lot of good choices, and last I checked, he's only in two movies that truly flat-out SUCK over the entire decade. ( Those movies, in my humble opinion, are Babel and Troy. I know Ocean's 13 isn't great, but just saying.)

    3) What else are you gonna see that comes out this weekend? Post-Grad?

    I think not.

    4) The script for this movie apparently took over a decade to complete. When was the last time that something that took that long to complete ended up a disaster? Other than, you know, Brett Favre's career. *ZING!* More Here...
  • What You Should Get Me For My Birthday.

There she is, HardestLevelers. Drink in the Arkeg, described by the people who made it as "an iPod for your video games that also happens to serve beer."

    I think I'm in love.

The Arkeg is exactly what it looks like: an arcade cabinet, as well as a kegerator. Most importantly for us gamers, it comes with 69 games, all classics from Atari, Midway, etc. I honestly don't think it gets better than being able to play Asteroids and drink beer in the comfort of your own home/dorm/apartment/batcave. • Profile Spotlight: Meet Jim.

    Name:
    Jim

    Age:
    20.

Gaming Alias: Other than signing arcade games with my initials (JJG), usually I'm playing online with jgall0610. I'm not one for being clever, apparently.

Your Video Game Style: Though I still follow the industry pretty closely, I hate to say that I've slacked a bit in my gaming purchases in recent years, mainly cause I'm a poor college student.

Fortunately, my roommate is spoiled, but this means that his gaming style has become mine, which means I'm apparently into every installment of the NBA 2K series that comes out. At any rate, the college dorm experience has led me back into a whole lot of party gaming, so there's been a lot of Goldeneye, Mario Party, and Super Smash Brothers in my life as a result.

Really, the shortest answer is really that I'll play anything if it's engaging, and since I love competition, I'm just about willing to give any game I can play against people online a chance.

Console that You Can't Live Without (and why): I'm going to give the slightest of nods to my Nintendo 64, but a close second has to my Sega Genesis, which I recently found in my garage and has been getting an awful lot of play of late (as I think I mentioned in another post of mine, I finally finished a season on NHL '96 a couple of months ago).

But the N64? I think it might always be #1. There were just too many amazing games for it to be ignored. Bonus points, because my N64 emulator gets me through more college classes than I care to count. More Here...
